The Dukes of Hazzard Wiki

Baldwin, is a minor character in The Dukes of Hazzard.

A Baby for the Dukes[]

They enter Hazzard County, chasing Mary Lou as they were ordered to do in order to recover her baby for their boss, Emerson P. Craig. As Mary Lou continues to elude him, Fielding taunts him, saying not to let that ‘female’ outdrive him and to get her. Annoyed, he snaps that he will and Fielding asks if Baldwin wants him to drive before they nearly collide into an oncoming car. However they are ran off the road and get stuck. The two get the car free and resume their chase of Mary Lou. When they see Jesse, Daisy, Bo, and Luke Duke on the side of the road, he stops to allow Fielding to ask if they saw Mary Lou. When all four deny it, he continues driving hoping they will spot her.

They catch up to Mary Lou and force her off the road. He checks the car for Jamie but doesn’t find the baby. Unable to find the baby in the backseat, he checks the trunk. He goes up to Mary Lou, asking where she hid the baby. As they threaten Mary Lou, a pickup pulls up and asks if they need help. While they get rid of the driver, he worries about the driver saying he saw them with Mary Lou only to realize she is escaping. He says for them to go get her and tries to run to the car but Fielding stops him, saying they don’t want her, they want the baby. They decide to check the orange car they passed.

While looking for the orange car, they spot it on the road driving by them. He is told to pull the boys over, which he remarks ‘you got it’ before forcing Luke to stop. As they all get out, Luke asks if they can do something for them. He approaches Bo, checking his nails as he asks if the boys have seen anything like an abandoned six month old baby. He pushes Bo aside to check the General. Bo says he will ‘thank you to get you hands off our car’ and he gets in Bo’s face, saying Bo hasn’t answered the question. Bo gets into his face as well, asking what question was that. Fielding intervenes, saying they are just looking for a baby, pointing a gun at the boys to which Baldwin grins. Luke suddenly knocks away Fielding’s gun and Bo hits him, but he pulls out a gun and shoots it in the air to get their attention. He tells calls them both ‘hayseeds’ telling them if they move one finger then they’ve had it. The boys bicker for a moment before Luke suddenly punches him in the face and he drops his gun. Luke knocks him down and the boys flee. When Bo jumps the General however, he stops and loses a tire. He tells Fielding they have a flat.

Craig meets with Fielding and Baldwin, ordering them to put the Dukes under surveillance. The two confirm the orders and rush to get in the car to obey, colliding into each other as they do.

He listens in on the Farm’s phone lines, learning that the Dukes have the baby and are going to meet up with Mary Lou and take her to him.

They go to Boss Hogg’s office, finding Craig with Boss and Jesse Duke. Craig leaves with them to hear what they learned.

They head to Jensen’s Hollow with Craig and when Craig says to stake out the place, he comments ‘Check Mr. C.’ After a few moments he hears sirens and see they are being chased by Rosco and Enos. Craig has them stop and pick up Rosco to accompany them.

They spot the Dukes arrive and listen to them tell Mary Lou that Boss is helping them and they are going to take her to Jamie. When the Dukes leave, they follow the General. When Craig says to be careful, he says the hicks are so dumb they will never know what hit them. They are all horrified when Rosco starts firing his pistol out the back window, alerting the Dukes to their presence. They stop long enough to leave Rosco on the side of the road before resuming the chase. When Craig says he wants the Dukes, he promises to catch them while trying to keep up. An unexpected water truck causes him to run off the road, and they lose the General.

Craig, Fielding, and Baldwin check all the buildings along the road to see if they can find Daisy and Jamie.

As they continue, they notice a sign for the Hazzard Sawmill. Fielding sees fresh tire tracks and Craig agrees to check it out. They drive toward the sawmill before parking and walking the rest of the way.

The three go into the sawmill and not seeing anything, they assume Daisy slipped out the back and attempt to follow her. They are shocked to see a massive fire consuming the area. He spots Daisy and the baby and they attempt to follow.

They find they’re way blocked by fire and Craig suggests they make a path. They use their coats to try and put out some of the flames, but it’s too much.
