Plot[]

Balladeer: Now y’all might remember that because of their probation, Bo and Luke ain’t supposed to cross the Hazzard County Line. But this is an exception. They’ve come to Capitol City because they volunteered to become big brothers to an underprivileged teenager by treating him to a week of positive influence of Hazzard County. Uh, that’s him. And he’s trouble.

Capitol City

Bo and Luke arrive in Capitol City, Bo driving around until he finds the ‘Big Brother’ program. As they park a teenager, Andy, notices them from a hiding spot. Bo asks the kids name and Luke tells him it’s Andy before saying Andy has had a rough time of it, being sent from foster home to foster home and that they are supposed to give him someone to trust. They go inside to find the boy but are approached by a man before getting inside. Luke said they talked to a Ms. Brooks, and the man informs tells them ‘good luck’ and when Bo asks if he’s inside they are informed that Andy is about to steal the General Lee. They look over just in time to see Andy leaving with the car. Bo is angry but he and Luke borrow a guys truck. Meanwhile the Sheriff see’s Andy racing through town and chase after him too.

They leave town, the owner of the truck telling them to slow down just long enough for him to get secure. Bo expresses his frustration about the situation and Luke reminds him that no one said this would be easy. As the three cars go down the road, two other vehicles end up in the chase. Bo remarks about the traffic and Luke reminds him he just got off the circuit, asking if Bo is really going to let a little traffic bother him. Bo pulls up behind a truck and Luke climbs out of the pickup before jumping over onto the truck. He then jumps down onto the General Lee and slides in through the window, forcing Andy to stop. All three vehicles stop.

Duke Farm

Daisy tells Jesse that she has the spare bedroom ready and she found a spare baseball glove. Jesse praises her and tells her he put a new line of Luke’s fishing pole and is now tying up some fresh flies so they can go fishing that afternoon. Daisy is told to start lunch and Daisy says she hopes the boy has a good time. Jesse says they are probably thicker than thieves at the moment.

Capitol City Police Department

The Sheriff walks in with Andy, Bo and Luke angrily following and arguing. Bo wants to press charges and is insisting that they do but Luke is adamantly against it. Bo insists that Andy is just a common criminal but Luke says Andy just went for a joy ride. Luke says that he broke the law and Bo says then he ought to be taught a lesson. Luke says the only lesson he would learn is how to do it better. They argue again about pressing charges and Luke reminds Bo that they are responsible for Andy and they need to teach him right and wrong. Frustrated, Bo agrees not to press charges to which Luke is grinning, proud. Bo goes to sign Andy out.

As they head to Hazzard, Bo asks if anyone ever taught him the ten commandments. He tells Bo that he dropped out of school before he learned to count that high. He asks why don’t’ they give him a break and says when they get back he can get a do-gooder. Luke asks if he feels that way why did he sign up for the program. He admits he broke into the building by mistake and claimed he was signing up for the program to keep from being charged for trespassing. He listens to Bo and Luke argue about him more.

Road

As they head back home, Bo is lecturing Andy and Andy gives him sarcastic answers before assuming he is going directly back to Capitol City as he doesn’t want to be in the program. Luke asks why he signed up and Andy said he had to in order to keep from going to jail. Bo is furious but Luke reminds him that Uncle Jesse tells them that ‘Patience brings its own reward’. Bo says Andy will run them into a six figure mark.

Boar’s Nest

Boss is trying to eat with Rosco’s help but admits he just can’t. Boss stands up, having lost a significant amount of weight that his clothes now hang off of him. He says he just hasn’t been able to eat in two weeks. Boss sobs and tells Rosco he hasn’t been able to make a single dollar in two weeks. Rosco tries to get him to eat again and Boss laments that it’s just terrible.

Town of Hazzzard

The Dukes stop at Rhuebottoms, Luke thinking that Andy should get some new clothes. They let Andy look at a few shirts before leaving. Bo and Luke notice that Andy ‘has put on a little weight’ and make him open his shirt, showing he has stollen a number of shirts from the store. Bo is angry and Luke says Andy isn’t going to change overnight. Luke says Andy isn’t going to change unless there’s a week with two Sundays in it. Andy asks if they ever agree on anything and Bo gets angry yelling that they do agree on a lot of things. Luke laughs and Bo realizes what happened, saying they had been at each others throats and Luke says it just proves Andy ain’t wrong about everything. Luke tells Andy he will take the shirts inside and apologize to Mr. Rhuebottom, but Bo says that would just lead Andy to steal more things. They start to fight again and Luke says he’ll return the shirts but Bo needs to watch Andy. Donna walks by and Bo gets distracted. He disables the General before telling Andy to stay there and walking off with the girl to ask what she was doing on Friday night.

Capitol City

A man waits outside of the bank and folds a gun in a newspaper. When two guards come out with money for an armored car, he steals the money.

Road

As Bo, Luke, and Andy head toward the farm, they lose a tire. The boys open the trunk to see all the hubcaps and Andy gives them a nervous chuckle. Bo gets angry, saying Luke can keep defending ‘Mr. Dillinger’ but he thinks they should take him back to Capitol City. Luke reminds Bo of a time he stole a watermelon. Bo snaps that is different since the watermelons were on the ground and Andy had to take the hubcaps off the cars. Bo adds that he didn’t do the watermelon alone wither. Luke nervously agrees and Andy tries to excuse himself but they say he is going to fix it.

Rosco sits in his patrol car, telling Flash they need to find some money. Enos calls Rosco on the CB, informing him that he’s surrounded by people in town who all have hubcaps stolen. In the General, Bo, Luke, and Andy hear the report and Luke just starts laughing. Rosco meanwhile dismisses the report, telling Enos to handle it himself. Enos starts taking reports from the victims. Meanwhile Rosco uses his pop up sign as the General Lee drives by. Bo is frustrated by Luke says Bo has just been away from town too long. Rosco then chases after them. Bo says if Rosco catches them then they are going to be away from a long time. Bo cuts across county but is watching Rosco behind them. Luke yells at him, asking what Bo is doing and realizing it’s too late to do anything else, Bo jumps a creek. Rosco refuses to follow. Andy is impressed while the boys joke about Flash driving the car.

Boar’s Nest

Boss is pacing at the Boar’s Nest when the phone rings. Norman informs him he just stolen some money and wants to get rid of it. Boss asks what the deal is and the man says fifty percent. Boss is not impressed by the offer and offers ten. Norman ends up accepting that and agrees to go to the Boar’s Nest.

Town of Hazzard

Bo and Luke drive beside Andy, making him put all the stolen hubcaps back on the cars he removed them from. Andy goes to continue but points out a cop, which is Enos. The boys stop and Bo says it’s the last car. Andy says he won’t do it if the cop is there and Luke says they will distract the cop for a moment. Andy is unsure but the boys assure him it will work. Bo pretends the General is stalling out, commenting Bo is ‘really good at this’ before they get out of the General and Luke making a scene about forgetting gas. Enos and the other man look over at them and the boys ask if they can help push the car down to Cooter’s. Enos and Mr. Howard agree to help and while they push the General to Cooter’s, Andy puts on the caps. As the two go back to Mr. Howard’s car, Andy returns and the three leave town. Meanwhile Enos and the others are surprised to see all the hubcaps are back.

Boar’s Nest

Boss pays off Norman, and he leaves.

Road

Andy remarks that the boys blew it with the hubcaps and the money they could have made from them. Bo gets frustrated and says he will never change. Luke says some people take longer. Bo tells Luke one thing he learned while they were away from home is that the road to damnation is chock full of good intentions and Andy asks if they are preachers. Luke says they are just how their uncle raised them.

Boar’s Nest

Rosco enters the office saying he has bad news. Happily, Boss corrects him saying he has good news. Rosco asks what he’s talking about and Boss tells him about the money he got and Rosco concludes it’s hot money. Boss says he plans to fence the money off to Barney Benson the next day at twenty five percent. Rosco says Boss is slick and Boss realizes he’s starving. He tells Rosco to go to the Dixie Dellie and get him corned beef sandwiches of just fat, making Rosco sick.

Duke Farm

The boys fill in Jesse and Daisy about everything that happened while they sit down for lunch. Jesse asks why he is stealing and Daisy says Andy should try working for what he wants. Andy remarks he doesn’t know a trade and no one taught him any so Jesse says they will teach him how to work on a farm. Andy laughs saying work if for the strong bodied but weak minded, looking directly at Bo. Offended, Bo goes off and Luke and Jesse try to sooth him while also scolding him for forgetting to wait until grace (Bo took a drink of milk to which Daisy and Luke laugh). Jesse gives grace. Jesse then offers to pay Andy fifty cents an hour for all the work he does. Seeing Andy isn’t into the idea, Daisy says she doesn’t think he’s got what it takes to do a real man’s job. Offended, Andy agrees to work the farm. The Dukes then have lunch.

Road

Norman is pulled over by the FBI and searched. They also find a receipt for gas from Hazzard.

Boar’s Nest

Boss goes to eat but gets a phone call asking for Rosco. Rosco insists the call should be for him but when Boss says it’s the FBI calling, Rosco says its for Boss. They are informed of Norman’s arrest and the suspicion of the stolen cash being in Hazzard. Boss sobs as he loses his appetite again. Rosco then eats the food.

Duke Farm

The next day, Daisy shows Andy how to milk a cow but he accidently sends the milk into Daisy’s face to her amusement. Later he is chasing a goat and crashes into Jesse, breaking all the eggs Jesse gathered. Bo and Luke then teach him how to drive a tractor but he nearly hits both boys. Quickly, Andy begins picking up on the chores, Daisy even saying he’s doing a good job. He and Luke drive around the tractor, Luke telling him the same.

Bo teaches Andy how to saddle a horse while Luke works on the General. Andy asks if he can ride the horse and Bo tells him no as the horse is not broken in yet. Luke calls Bo for help and Bo goes, giving Andy some last instruction. They are confused by a part in the General and Luke looks over to see Andy getting on the horse. Bo and Luke chase after him on other horses. Andy struggles to hold on and in their chase Bo nearly gets hit by a branch. Andy’s horse jumps a tree and Bo and Luke follow. Luke throws a lasso to stop the horse and Bo pulls Andy off the horse to keep him safe.

Still Site

Boss hides the money in a cave by an old still site of his.

Duke Farm

After dinner, Bo and Luke are doing dishes. Bo is still skeptical about Andy and Luke says he will get there. Bo says they haven’t made any headway. Andy comes in with the firewood for the night, much more subdued and addressing Jesse as ‘Sir’, before turning to Bo and Luke, thanking them for saving him. Jesse remarks that he thinks that is the first time Andy has probably never thanked someone before. Daisy says they are making headway.

Boar’s Nest

The next day, Boss and Rosco meet with Barney and Barney is only offering ten cents on the dollar, the same Boss paid to get the money. They leave to find it.

Duke Farm

Andy exits the barn with some wood while Jesse feeds the chickens. Andy approaches him, addressing him as Mr. Duke and Jesse tells him to call him Uncle Jesse. Andy asks if he can get paid for the work he’s done so far and Jesse agrees but is confused since Andy can’t use the money on the Farm. Andy asks if he can use the pickup and go to town. Jesse agrees, telling Andy to not take too long as he’s going fishing with the boys. As Andy leaves, Bo and Luke return. Jesse assures him that he gave Andy permission and Bo says they had to test Andy at some point. Daisy comes out, frantic, looking for the billy goat. Bo says they can check the back forty and he and Luke will check the road into town.

Road

While Andy heads to town, Boss and Barney heads toward the still site. As Andy drives, he sees the goat run across the road. Curious, he stops and finds the goat in a small cave. As he gets the goat, he finds the bag of money Boss Hogg stashed. Realizing they can’t stay there, Andy takes the money and the goat back to the pickup. Andy has a dilemma about what to do. As he leaves, Boss spots the pickup recognizing it as Jesse’s and wondering why Jesse would be there. He decides it’s not important and they go to get the money only to find it’s gone. Boss thinks maybe Jesse found the money as the location was one of Jesse’s old still sites. Barney decides to go see Jesse Duke about the money.

Duke Farm

The Dukes all arrive at the farm, unable to find the goat. Bo adds they haven’t seen Andy either and they might have to start looking for him. The Dukes wonder if Andy will come back and keep his promise.

Road

Andy drives, still debating on what to do.

Duke Farm

Jesse gets upset with the boys about how they are losing hope in Andy, saying they aren’t the same about people like they were before. Daisy says they sound cynical. They hear Andy call for them on the CB and Andy tells them about the goat and the money. Daisy tells him to come back home, and he agrees.

Road

Meanwhile Boss and Barney, who heard the conversation, find Andy. Barney pulls a gun on Andy, to Boss’ horror, and tells him to grab the money and get in his van. Andy speeds off instead and Barney chases him.

Duke Farm

Daisy asks how the boys feel now and Luke admits he’s embarrassed and Bo tries to play it off for a moment before admitting he was wrong. However they hear Andy yelling for Bo and Luke again, explaining some men pulled a gun on him for the money and he’s running now. Alarmed, the Dukes jump into action. Luke asks where he is and Andy says he saw a sign for Green Apple Road. Bo and Luke leave in the General and Jesse and Daisy in Dixie.

Road

Andy continues to keep ahead of Barney while Bo assures him over the CB that they are on their way. Barney starts shooting at him. Boss tries to wrestle the gun from him, protesting that he doesn’t want any shooting. Boss forces Barney to run off the road and Barney kicks Boss out of the van before continuing his chase of Andy. Bo calls Andy and tells him to hide at Wilson’s Corners for ten minutes until they get there, which Andy agrees to do. Barney unfortunately hears it.

Jesse calls the boys and tells them to get Rosco and Enos involved. Bo switches channels and calls for Enos, who responds immediately. Rosco meanwhile is giving Flash a bath at the Police Department and answers the CB, telling Enos that he makes all the decisions. Bo snaps at Rosco to listen to him and explains everything that was going on. Meanwhile the two FBI agents who arrested Norman also hear the conversation. They head out as well. Down the road, Enos spots Boss and picks him up. Hearing everything going on the CB, Boss joins the conversation and tells Rosco to get into his car and go help Andy with the Dukes. Bo tells Boss where they told Andy to hide.

Barney pulls up to where Andy is hiding and takes Andy and the money. Bo meanwhile calls for Andy but he doesn’t respond. Bo and Luke become worried and realize something is wrong. Daisy suggests over the radio that the CB got knocked out and Bo remarks he hopes Daisy is right and he owes Andy an apology.

In the van Andy asks what Barney wants with him and Barney says he’s a witness, and Barney can’t afford to leave those hanging around. Barney drives off, Andy thinking he’s about to die. However the boys see the brown van that Andy told them about coming the other way. They turn around and chase after it. Bo tells Luke he thinks Andy is in the van. Meanwhile as they turn up ahead, they see Enos, Boss, Rosco, and the FBI agents who all collide into each other.

Bo suggests Luke gets closer to the van so he climb onto it. Bo tells Daisy they want to listen to ‘country music’ and Daisy and the boys switch to channel 17. They tell Daisy their idea, and Daisy agrees to slow down the van. Daisy gets in front and Luke tells Bo to be careful as he climbs out of the General and onto the hood. Luke gets up by the van and Bo jumps on the top, which Luke says was nearly as good as he would have done it.

Andy hears a noise and looks up to see Bo coming through the top of the van. Bo signals for him to take the keys before getting behind Barney. When Bo grabs Barney, Andy gets the keys. Bo knocks Barney unconscious and steers the van to the side of the road as it stops. He praises Andy and Andy thanks him. Luke and Daisy stop and Luke helps get Barney out of the van. Enos, Boss, Rosco, and the FBI arrive. The FBI take custody of Barney and the money.

Balladeer: Sometimes folks get off on the wrong foot. But remember, many a bad start can wind up with a happy ending as it did for Andy and the Dukes. Of Course, it didn’t end up that way for old Barney. Boss lost his investment and his appetite again when he learned he wasn’t getting a share of the armored car’s reward money. And y’all might be surprised to see who did get the reward. Yup, Andy gave his reward money to underprivileged kids like him so they could meet folks like the Dukes of Hazzard. Now, that ain’t half bad.

Boar’s Nest

Rosco tries to get Boss to eat, but he refuses. Flash watches the food as it’s pushed back and forth.

Duke Farm

As Andy prepares to go fishing, Jesse brings out the reward from the Armored Car Company for him. Andy is surprised but says the money can’t buy him what Bo and Luke gave him. The boys are stunned and Andy says he wishes there was a way he could repay them. Bo jokes about Andy giving him his ball cap. Luke pretends that he wants it but Andy says the hat is his but the money is for them. The Dukes are even further stunned and Andy says to give it to the orphanage. Bo tells him what they can do is drive him to the orphanage and he can give the money himself. Luke says he can actually drive and Andy agrees before giving Daisy his hat.
