"Heiress Daisy Duke" is the thirteenth episode of the sixth season of The Dukes Of Hazzard.

Summary[]

Private investigator Harry Bobo (Frank Birney) comes to Hazzard with a photo of heiress Vivian Stewart, the long-lost granddaughter of wealthy industrialist Carter Stewart (Lyle Talbot) -- who is offering a $200,000 reward to anyone who finds Vivian. It turns out that Vivian looks exactly like Daisy, so Boss Hogg, who wants the reward money, has Professor Crandall (Walker Edminston) hypnotize Daisy into thinking that she is Vivian. Boss Hogg tricks Harry into thinking that Daisy is Vivian, and they visit Carter. But Vivian's cousins Alan Fairchild (Greg Michaels) and Vonnie Fairchild (Hancy Hinman), who would receive Vivian's inheritance if Vivian is killed, are out to kill Daisy, because they also think Daisy is Vivian.

Plot[]

Balladeer: Well it was a sunny Saturday, Bo and Luke was jawin’ about the upcoming hot race and a cool woman in town, which had nothin’ to do with what they were about to face. The Dukes was a fixin’ to lose Daisy Duke. Now don’t that turn your bones to J-E-L-L-O. And here comes law enforcement's answer to Dopey, and the Seven Dwarves. Rosco P. Coltrane.

Road

Bo drives him and Luke in the General. Bo jokes that he don’t like seeing a grown man cry and Luke says if he cries it’s only because whipping Bo’s butt always breaks his heart a little bit. They pass Rosco and Boss Hogg, who immediately follow after them. Bo notices them and Luke points out Boss is with him. Bo wonders what he wants.

Boss tells Rosco that he is giving Rosco his annual evaluation. Meanwhile Bo asks if they should let them get them, and Luke becomes offended asking that Bo wants to drop the whole bet. Bo gets upset and tells Luke to watch before yelling ‘bye bye Rosco’ and taking off. Bo goes around a sharp turn and Rosco tries to follow hitting a large number of trash cans and running a car off the road. Rosco tries to read the evaluation, accidentally running another car off. They stop to check on the driver. Meanwhile Luke teases Bo, saying he should have saved that driving for Chester Flats. Bo says that was just some exercises.

Boss and Rosco confront the other driver and introduce who they are. The driver is no longer offended, deciding this was lucky for him as he was looking for the two of them. Boss asks why and he hands them his card, showing he is a private investigator. Boss asks what he’s doing in Hazzard and Harry presents a newspaper ad for the Boar’s Nest featuring Daisy. They ask what Harry wants with her and Harry explains that his client, Carter Stewart is the one with the interest. Boss recalls that Stewart was the one who lost his daughter and her husband all those years ago and Harry explains that while they were killed in a plane accident, Carter’s granddaughter Vivian was never found. He says she was five at the time but she looked exactly like her mother before showing Boss and Rosco a picture of Carter’s daughter. The woman and Daisy look almost exactly alike. Harry adds that Stewart has authorized $200,000 to anyone who finds Vivian. They all agree to go to the Boar’s Nest.

Boar’s Nest

Boss, Rosco, and Harry arrive at the Boar’s Nest and Boss says when they go inside Harry can see the woman from the ad. They go inside where Daisy is selling beers and keeping everyone happy. Harry is stunned by her and Boss comments that she is working hard. Daisy says that Boss promised her that if she doubled her quota she would get tomorrow off and she can keep all her tip money. Boss is surprised, not remembering that but goes into the office with Harry and Rosco. Harry tells them that the girl is a dead ringer and asks if it is Vivian, but Boss says no and didn’t Harry hear him call her Daisy. Boss says he thinks he has a way to make Daisy actually believe she is Vivian Stewart. Harry, offended, asks Boss what makes him think Harry will go along with this. Boss points out his wardrobe and clothes tells Boss that Harry doesn’t have much money and Harry reluctantly gives in. Boss picks up the phone and tells Gussie to get him Professor Crandall. Boss reminds Rosco that Bo and Luke would be a problem and tells Rosco to keep the boys gone. Rosco leaves.

Carter Stewarts Home

Carter paces in his office while Alan and Vonnie sit on the couch. He wonders why Harry call and Vonnie suggests he failed again. Carter remarks that he can’t keep doing this and if Harry doesn’t find Vivian this time, he might just give up on finding her. As he leaves the room, Vonnie tells her husband that Harry will fail and it will leave them as Carter’s only heirs. Alan asks what if Harry actually does find Vivian, and Vonnie says if that does happen then they will make sure Vivian never meets her grandfather alive.

Boss and Crandall explain that Crandall will put Daisy in a state and they will ‘program’ her with all the information Harry will provide about the family and Vivian’s mother’s characteristics. Harry agrees he knows the family real well. A knock comes at the door however, interrupting the meeting. Enos says that Rosco sent him over and Boss tells Enos that they have been getting complainants about the pot holes on Cherry Lane and he wants Enos to go up there and count every one of them. Enos says it could take a few days and Boss says for him to get started.

Bo and Luke are getting ready to leave when Rosco arrives, cutting them off. Bo is upset as he was driving. Bo says if Rosco is going to cite them than to forget it as they have permission. Luke pulls out a note written by Mr. Chester saying they could race all day if they wanted. Rosco quickly asks who said he was citing them before indicating that he and Flash just wanted to watch them. Luke says they were headed out to get a beer. Rosco quickly offers to buy them one. Bo asks if he’ll feeling alright but Luke stops him, saying if Rosco wants to buy them a beer they should let him and that they will meet him at the Boar’s Nest. Rosco suddenly becomes frazzled and says he can’t do that because he’s in uniform and can’t drink on duty. The boys say they’ll take a rain-check and for Rosco to get some rest.

Boar’s Nest

Rosco CB’s Boss and informs him he couldn’t stop the boys. Boss tells Harry and Crandell that they need to move fast, that he’s going to call Daisy in and say that she needs to take a break and then Crandall will take over.

Road

Bo is confused, saying first Rosco encourages them to race, then tries to buy them a beer and as soon as they mention the Boar’s Nest he is alarmed. Luke says he doesn’t know but he doesn’t like it.

Boar’s Nest

Crandall puts Daisy under as Boss and Harry watch. Boss has him tell Daisy to return to the Boar’s Nest at eight o’clock that night. He adds that if Bo and Luke try to follow her, she is to send them on their way. Crandall wakes Daisy up and she is confused but Boss says she was on a break from how hard she was working but she needs to get back. Daisy then leaves to the main floor. Harry asks if there are any side effects and Crandall says she might be a little short tempered for a day or two but nothing serious.

Duke Farm

The Dukes have dinner but Daisy keeps watching the clock. Luke asks her what is going on and Daisy gets up and leaves, confusing the others. Bo asks where she is going and she ignores them. Jesse asks if they are fighting and the boys say no. Luke says she was acting odd at the Boar’s Nest too. Bo decides to go after her but Jesse says for him to sit down as Daisy is allowed to have her moods too.

Boar’s Nest

Boss looks at the clock, seeing it’s almost nine pm, as Crandall keeps programing Daisy. Crandall says they need two phrases, one to decide when she will be Vivian, and one to decide when she will be J.D. Boss chooses ‘Jefferson Davis Hogg’ for Vivian and ‘J.D. Hogg’ for Daisy. Boss tests the two phrases, seeing them work perfectly. Boss tells Daisy to be back at the Boar’s Nest at eight in the morning. They wake Daisy, who is confused, and Boss claims she came in to do the inventory before sending her home. Harry then calls Carter.

Stewart’s Mansion

Carter is overjoyed to hear that Harry found Vivian and informs Alan and Vonnie before going to get a drink. Vonnie tells Alan they need to kill Vivian and they are going to get a car Harry doesn’t know and go to Hazzard.

Duke Farm

The Dukes wait up for Daisy. Luke says if Daisy isn’t back in five minutes they will go looking for her. Jesse tries to stop them when they hear the car. Jesse says she’s back and they have been fretting over nothing, to which Bo says he was too. Daisy comes in and ignores all three to go straight to bed. Jesse decides to let her have tonight but tomorrow morning they will all sit down and talk.

The next morning Daisy gets up and leaves. The boys all hear her and try to chase after her but she ignores them. Jesse tells the boys to get her and bring her back as he wants her at the table.

Road

Daisy starts driving to the Boar’s Nest, confused. As soon as she passes Rosco, Rosco closes off the road she took. Bo and Luke arrive at the fork and head down Peach Tree Road, which is the wrong road. Rosco chases after the boys, having a laid a trap that took out all four of the tires. Luke asks if Bo is alright, which he confirms and they get out to confirm that all four tires are indeed flat. Luke wonders who would do that and Bo says he doesn’t know until they hear a siren and conclude it was Rosco.

Rosco gets out and Bo waves at him, greeting him. Rosco says that you can’t drive a vehicle with flat tires as it’s against the law. Luke argues it’s impossible and Bo says it isn’t their fault and Rosco set the trap himself. Luke asks what is going on but Rosco refuses to give them a straight answer. He says he needs to search the vehicle and Bo asks what for. Rosco pulls out the CB, destroying it. Luke is annoyed since they are stranded. Rosco offers to let them off with a warning before leaving. Bo thinks Rosco and Daisy are connected and Luke refuses to jump to conclusions, saying they need to get the CB working first.

Boar’s Nest

Harry and Boss wait at the Boar’s Nest and Daisy arrives at exactly eight. Alan and Vonnie watch from their car in a distance, shocked at just how much she looks like Vivian’s mother and concluding it really is Vivian. Vonnie says it really is a shame she is going to die so young.

Harry and Boss lead Daisy into Boss’ office and Boss notices how upset Daisy is. Daisy admits she has no idea what is going on and Boss uses the trigger to turn her into Vivian. He offers her a dress saying she ordered it.

Road

Boar’s Nest

Daisy finishes changing and Boss addresses her as Vivian, saying she looks just like her mama. Rosco comes in and addresses Daisy as such but Boss says she is Vivian Stewart and Rosco shakes her hand. Rosco announces he took care of the Dukes, which Daisy asks about. Rosco says Bo and Luke, adding they are her cousins and she apologizes saying he is mistaken as her only cousin is Alan Fairchild of the Savannah Farichilds. Rosco becomes confused and Boss says he should have had the professor convince Rosco he was Flash.

Road

Cooter fixes up the General and the boys explain what is going on, rather what they know. Cooter asks if he can help and the boys leave. Bo says they’ll get him the money for the tires next week and Cooter says that is what the boys told him last time. They drive off.

Boar’s Nest

Boss puts up a closed sign as he and Harry escort Daisy out. Jesse pulls up and rushes over to talk to Daisy. Daisy does not recognize Jesse and tells him as much. Jesse yells at Boss, addressing him as JD Hogg and asking what is he doing. Daisy is happy to see Uncle Jesse before becoming upset as she had no idea what is going on. Daisy hugs him but Boss says his full name. Now Vivian again, Daisy pulls away and apologizes before Harry helps her to the car. Boss claims that they are going to Capitol City to do a tv commercial for the Boar’s Nest. He says Daisy is just playing the part.

Road

Boss, Harry, and Daisy leave with Jesse following and Alan and Vonnie behind him. Vonnie orders Alan to pass Jesse and he does by running Jesse off the road. He tries to follow again but the truck is flooded. Meanwhile Alan runs Harry off the road and they see the plan didn’t work. Vonnie says they’ll try to kill Vivian again, but not right now.

Bo drives while Luke continues to work on the CB. They call Jesse again and are informed of what happened. Jesse says he’s on Blue Bottom Road and the boys say they are coming. Rosco hears them and decides to go cut the boys off. Rosco falls in behind the General and tells the boys to pull over. Luke says he’s bird dogging them and Bo decides to lose him. Bo goes around a hay pile and forces Rosco to drive through it. They head back to meet up with Jesse.

The boys help Jesse in the General. Jesse explains more about what happened and tells them about the car with a crazy driver and a lady with funny sunglasses. The boys say that Boss is up to something. They also know Daisy wouldn’t help him willingly and head to the office at the Boar’s Nest.

Boss talks to ‘Vivian’ in the car, asking what she called her granddad which she says ‘grandpoppy’. Meanwhile Rosco gets back on the road.

Boar’s Nest

Bo and Jesse help Luke through the window over Boss’ office and Luke opens the door for them. Jesse says they shouldn’t be in there but the boys insist they are already in and start looking around. Luke finds a picture, saying he’s never seen this picture of Daisy. None of the boys recognize it and Bo meanwhile finds an entry in Boss’ ledger about paying $5,000 to a Professor Crandall. Luke becomes upset as he remembers who that is and Bo recalls too. Jesse suggests Daisy is hypnotized. Bo finds another entry, suggesting whatever Boss is up to has to do with a long distance phone call to Carter Stuart. Jesse recognizes the name and they decide to go over to the Hazzard Gazette.

Stewart Mansion

Boss, Harry, and Daisy arrive at the mansion and Carter is overjoyed. Carter thanks Harry and Harry introduces Boss. Boss pretends he didn’t know about the reward.

Hazzard County Gazette

Jesse, Bo, and Luke read over the articles about Stewart and his daughter’s death. Bo says it looks like the same picture in Boss’ office. Luke says it isn’t Daisy, it’s Vivian’s mother. Jesse says Daisy called herself Vivian. Luke says it all makes sense and Boss made Daisy think she was Vivian to get the reward. Bo asks where the car went that ran him off the road. Jesse says it went after Daisy. Luke says there is probably someone who doesn’t want Vivian to be found. Bo tells Jesse to go back to the farm and they will go after Daisy. Jesse agrees.

Stewart Mansion

Alan, Vonnie, Boss, and Harry listen to Carter talk to Daisy. When Daisy correctly answers Carter’s questions about Vivian’s favorite doll and calls him ‘grandpoppy’ he confirms it is in fact Vivian. He insists on showing his gratitude and Boss says his name is J.D. Hogg. Daisy is confused and becomes upset but Boss quickly says Jefferson Davis Hogg, claiming ‘Vivian’ was just overwelmed for a moment. She concludes he must be right. Carter asks Alan and Vonnie to show ‘Vivian’ around while he writes out the check to Boss.

Outside Vonnie suggests Alan take ‘Vivian’ up to Red Ridge Hill and Alan agrees. ‘Vivian’ does as well and the two leave, Vonnie watching. Alan goes up the hill with ‘Vivian’ just missing the General Lee. Boss, Harry, and Vonnie are surprised by the General’s arrival. Bo and Luke announce that Daisy is in trouble and the woman with them, Vonnie, was spotted in the car. Vonnie tries to deny it but Harry realizes it must be true. The boys explain that it’s not Vivian that Boss and Harry brought but their cousin Daisy. Horrified, Vonnie tells them that her husband Alan just took Vivian up the hill to kill her. The three get in the car and follow after Bo and Luke.

At the top of the hill, Alan stops. When ‘Vivian’ asks if something is wrong, he says it seems like it and he needs to check. He gets out and cuts the break line before asking ‘Vivian’ to drive it down the hill just a bit for him to see if something is leaking. She does and he says goodbye, realizing she will not be able to stop. Bo and Luke blow past him and follow the car with Daisy. Daisy keeps the car on the road and Bo catches up to her. Luke realizes Daisy can’t break and Bo goes around by jumping the car. He then starts slowing her down by letting her ram into the back of the General. All three get out and the boys call her Daisy but she tells them she is Vivan. Bo says it’s their mistake and Luke offers to give her a ride. She says she will wait for her cousin Alan. They offer to take her to Alan and she agrees, getting in the General. The boys go back to the top of the hill and find Alan, who pulls out a gun at their arrival. ‘Vivian’ is shocked and he explains that he has to kill her. Alan is distracted when another car arrived and Bo darts forward, punching Alan in the face and taking his gun. Boss, Harry, and Vonnie arrive. Boss begs Daisy for forgiveness but the boys say she is still ‘Vivian’. Boss gives her the key word to make her Daisy again and Daisy is happy to see them all. Bo thanks Boss and the three get in the General.

Balladeer: Alan and Vonnie got to inherit a prison number instead of money. Boss got Crandall to de-hynotize Daisy. And after Carter Stewart learned the truth and who was responsible for what, he looked on the brighter side. Especially when Daisy promised to visit him regularly in the future. Boss and old Bobo felt so bad about what nearly happened to Daisy, Boss gave Daisy the week off while him and Bobo did all of her chores. Daisy did get something special. Bo, Luke, and Uncle Jesse insisted on doing all the cooking and the dishes for one day. They all got indigestion. And things went back to normal in Hazzard.

Daisy hugs Carter as her, Bo, and Luke explain everything that happened.

  • Professor Crandall returns after his last appearance in Goodbye General Lee
    • The episode is referenced when the boys find Crandall's name in Boss' office and they recall Crandall hypnotizing Luke to make him get rid of the General.
  • Bo and Luke race to solve a dispute they are having but they have the exact same time
    • Every time the boys race to see who is better they usually end up tying, like in Duke vs. Duke
    • This dispute is over a girl they both want to ask out. Interesting enough usually the boys are arguing because they have different types of women, but periodically they show interest in the same person
