Sadie Hogg Day is the seventh episode of Season 4 of the Dukes of Hazzard.
Summary[]
It's Sadie Hogg Day in Hazzard County, the day when women run the county offices. Daisy's role is being the county treasurer. This works out well for Boss, since he's been embezzling county funds and knows that a state investigator is coming to inspect the county ledger. Boss uses this knowledge to make sure that Daisy will be charged with the theft of county funds.
Plot[]
Bo and Luke head to town, Luke driving. Luke says Sadie Hogg Day is one of his favorite holidays, which Bo says he ain’t alone for. Bo says any time that many pretty girls get together in the same place at the same time he’s gotta do some shopping.
Balladeer: April the first is April Fool’s day most everywhere else, but in Hazzard it’s Sadie Hogg Day. That’s where the women take over the Hazzard Government. So the day before when women draw straws to see who does what, every man in Hazzard with half a hormone shows up to watch government in action. Poor old Cletus, he’s missing all the fun. Boss has got him waiting in the bushes trying to nail the Dukes on anything. Which is sort of silly when you think about it, since everybody knows where old Cletus waits. But it does keep things kinda simple.

The women in Hazzard head to the County Court House to draw for the jobs for Sadie Hogg Day.
Road
As Bo and Luke continue to drive, they pass Cletus who is sitting in his car. Cletus chases after them. Noticing Cletus, Luke says he’s getting ambitious. Bo says he can’t catch them or it’ll ruin Bo’s day. Luke agrees and they go through a construction zone near Boss’ Cement Company. Cletus hits a piece of machinery and they raise Cletus’ car in the air in revenge.
Police department
As Rosco and Flash set up the drawing, Rosco tells Boss he loves Sadie Hogg Day. Rosco wonders which ‘cutie’ will get his badge for the day. Boss gets a phone call and learns from a man named Handley that he is the chief bank examiner and is coming to audit Boss Hogg’s bank. After hanging up Boss starts yelling in anger. He tells Rosco about the audit the next day. Rosco becomes alarmed and Boss says they will find a shortage of exactly $142,679 and that Boss and Rosco will get arrested.
Town of Hazzard
Bo and Luke arrive at town, looking at all the ladies. They both comment about Daisy’s job last year, Bo saying Daisy wasn’t happy with the sewer cleaning job. They find Jesse.
Police Department
Boss tries to think of a way out of the mess. Rosco comes in to remind Boss about the Sadie Hogg Day drawing. Boss gets an idea and says he found a way to save him and Rosco from jail. Boss says he is going to arrange to have Daisy drawn for County Treasurer. Rosco says Daisy will appricate that before asking why Boss would do that. Boss says so that the missing funds will be Daisy’s responsibility and after they arrest Daisy it won’t be hard to incriminate Bo and Luke.
Many people gather in the booking room, including Clara Coltrane, Lulu, Miss Tisdale, Cooter, and the Dukes. Boss welcomes everyone to the event, explaining it is named after his great great grandma. Mis Tisdale and Lulu both tell Boss to get a move on. Boss draws for the Boss of Hazzard County, pulling out Lulu’s name. When Boss draws for Sheriff, he pulls out Clara Coltrane’s name. He then draws for the Deputy, getting Miz Emma Tisdale. Boss then draws for the County Treasurer, slipping Daisy’s name into his hand. He announces its Daisy, to which everyone celebrates and Daisy hugs Lulu. Bo however becomes confused, asking Luke about how happy Boss seemed to be that Daisy drew such an important job. Luke says they should keep an eye on her.
The next day everyone goes to town. A female driver takes Boss and Lulu to work. Cletus oversees Clara and Miz Tisdale as they get ready for the day. They are greeted by Boss and Lulu, saluting them. Handley sets out for Hazzard. Daisy arrives at the bank. Boss and Lulu go to leave and seeing Daisy arrive at the bank, they head over.
Bo and Luke arrive in town to be stopped by Rosco. Bo argues that he wasn’t speeding that he was going exactly the speed limit and Rosco tells them to hush. He says he’s not arresting them for speeding but he’s doing a smog inspection. Rosco tells them to pop the hood and reluctantly they do.
Hazzard Bank
Daisy and Lulu talk about how excited they are as Boss hands Daisy some papers to sign to be responsible for the county funds. Daisy signs the first few but pauses at the last one asking what it is. Boss says that it would make her responsible for all the funds and Daisy refuses until Boss agrees to let her see the money first. Boss invites her in the vault and shows her the money saying it is $142,679 in a bag. Daisy goes to count it but Boss stops her, pushing her out of the vault. Boss says it’s just a formality and to just sign for it and if Daisy doesn’t he will get another county treasurer. He remarks ‘right Lulu’ and agreeing with himself before Lulu can speak. He says if that is the case Daisy will go back to the job she had last year and Daisy quickly agrees to sign the form. Boss and Lulu leaves to get lunch.

Bo and Luke wait impatiently as Rosco check the car. Rosco tells them to start the engine and Bo and Luke get in the car. Bo asks if Luke is thinking what he’s thinking and Luke says Rosco can’t be that stupid but Bo says yes he could. Bo starts the engine and drives away, surprising Rosco. Rosco chases after them, furious.
Hazzard Bank
Daisy starts to go through some records when two men come in to rob the bank. Daisy is stunned and one watches her while the other cleans out the vault, taking the bag from the county funds. They leave. Directly after they are gone Daisy chases after them. Outside Bo and Luke are fleeing from Rosco around town. Rosco is tricked into hitting a number of trashcans. The boys see Daisy run outside yelling for help and Luke says Bo was right, something is going on. They stop and Daisy explains what happened. Bo and Luke chase after them and Daisy continues to yell. Miz Tisdale looks over to see Bo and Luke leaving while Daisy is yelling the Bank was robbed. Assuming it was Bo and Luke, she gets Cletus so they can chase after the boys.

Clara sees Rosco and Flash and asks what happened. Rosco snaps at her and she gives him a disapproving look. They hear Cletus call over the radio about the bank robbery and the two set out to join the chase. The Bank robbers are first with Bo and Luke behind them. Directly behind them are Cletus and Miz Tisdale.
Bank of Hazzard
Boss and Lulu arrive at the bank along with a number of other people including Cooter. The people try to check on Daisy while Boss checks the vault. As the chase for the robbers continue Boss comes out of the vault to say that the only thing taken was the county funds. Daisy says she didn’t have a chance to lock the vault. Boss accuses her of being in league with the thieves and Cooter says he can’t accuse Daisy like that. Boss says that Daisy was signed for the funds and Daisy agrees. Boss says she is liable for the funds before asking Lulu ‘right’ and agreeing with himself before she can answer. Cooter tries to assure her.
Road
The robbers are stunned to find the bag is full of trash and are furious. Rosco gets behind Cletus in the chase. The robbers notice the number behind them and throws the bag out of the car. Bo and Luke stop to find it was a bag of trash. Cletus, Tisdale, Rosco, and Clara all stop and move to arrest the boys. Rosco says they are being accused of bank robing. They are told Miz Tisdale is a witness and the boys try to explain they were just chasing the robbers. Bo and Luke are stunned to see the bag was full of trash. Bo and Luke tie Rosco and Cletus’ ties together before leaving and Clara and Miz Tisdale untie them.
Town of Hazzard
Rosco goes to the bank and tells Boss about the garbage and how the boys escaped. They go inside to where Lulu and Daisy are and Boss says to put out an APB on Bo and Luke. Daisy protests that it couldn’t have been Bo and Luke. Boss says they have a witness of Miz Tisdale. Rosco mentions the examiner, surprising Daisy and Boss tells Rosco to arrest Daisy. He asks Lulu ‘right’ and agrees with himself before she can speak.
Road
Bo and Luke go to see Jesse who tells them that Daisy was arrested. Bo explains they were framed and Luke tells Jesse to go bail her out. Jesse asks if they got $50,000 shocking the boys. Jesse tells them that Cooter told him about a bank examiner being in town. Luke and Bo head to break her out and Jesse stops them saying this break out is on him.
Police Department
Jesse goes to see Daisy who is being guarded by Miz Tisdale. While Jesse is talking to her, Bo and Luke go to the window. While Jesse flirts he grabs the keys and slips them to Daisy. Bo remarks he sees where him and Luke get it and Luke hushes him. Daisy opens her cell and starts to slip out. When Miz Tisdale agrees to go on a date with Jesse, she tells Daisy before realizing Daisy should still be in a cell. Jesse allows Daisy to escape and apologizes to Miz Tisdale, promising they will still go out on Saturday. Bo and Luke go and get the car and pull up to the Police Station where Daisy and Jesse get in. They drive away as Cletus and Miz Tisdale give chase.
Bo and Luke drive down an ally where the garbage is being collected at the garage. Bo gets around it but Cletus hits all the trashcans.
Boar’s Nest
Boss and Rosco go to the Boar’s Nest. Boss uncovers a trap door in his office and pulls out a ledger from the door. Rosco asks why he has two bank ledgers. Boss explains that the ledger they brought was the official county ledger that shows the county funds, and the one with the Confederate Flag sticker on it is his private and secret ledger that shows the money they have been taking from the county funds. Boss says he needs to check the two accounts to ensure all the money adds up and then they will take the official ledger back before the bank examiner arrives. Cletus calls over the CB and informs them that Daisy escaped. Boss runs outside and Rosco hides the ledgers.
Road
Cletus and Miz Tisdale continues to chase. Bo heads toward the road work and drives through it. Cletus follows and jumps a dirt mound. Miz Tisdale steals a stop sign. Rosco and Boss are coming toward them from the other side and Bo avoids them, causing the two police cars to collide. Cletus heads after them and Boss tells Rosco to get toward the bank at its 1:30.
The Dukes arrive where Jesse left his truck and all four get out of the car, Daisy hugging them all to thank them. Jesse suggests Boss has been stealing from the County and they realize Boss probably has records of stealing it. Luke says for Jesse and Daisy to check the office in town and he and Bo will head to the Boar’s Nest office. Luke adds they will have Cooter check Boss’ house.
Bank of Hazzard
Clara is cleaning up the bank as the examiner is due in 15 minutes. Lulu is moved and tries to sit on the edge of the desk, breaking it. Boss and Rosco arrive and Boss asks Rosco where the ledger is. Rosco admits he left it in the Boar’s Nest and Boss sends him back to get the official ledger and tells him to make sure he doesn’t bring back his secret ledger.
Boar’s Nest
Bo and Luke go through the office trying to find any records. Rosco arrives and hearing the door Bo and Luke hide in the closet. Rosco carries Flash in and uncovers the hiding spot as Bo and Luke watch from the closet. As Rosco pulls out the ledgers, he unknown knocks the sticker off of Boss’ private ledger. Bo almost knocks him and Luke over, revealing their hiding spot to Rosco. Rosco goes to arrest them and tells them to wait while he calls Boss.
Bank of Hazzard
Boss answers Rosco and learns Bo and Luke are in the Boar’s Nest. Boss praises him and tells Rosco to bring the boys and the ledger.
Boar’s Nest
Luke picks up a billiards cue and ask Rosco if they can talk it over. He tosses it to Rosco and Rosco falls over, allowing the boys to escape. While fleeing, Luke says they should have grabbed the books, though Bo retorts that they would’ve been caught while trying to grab them. Bo goes to call Jesse, Daisy, and Cooter but Luke takes the CB from him saying he's got an idea.
Bank of Hazzard
Handley arrives at the Bank as Rosco tells Boss that the boys escaped.
Boar’s Nest
Rosco and Flash go to leave but not knowing which ledger is which without the sticker, he decides to take both.
Bank of Hazzard
Mr. Handley comes in and boss and Lulu greet him. Boss offers to have Lulu offer him bon-bons but Handley says he’s not interested and he just wants to get down to business.
Road
Bo and Luke stop and tell Jesse that the examiner should be there and to see if Jesse and Daisy can talk to them. Jesse and Daisy agree and tell them to be careful. Bo remarks they are setting a trap and Rosco is bound to have both sets. Seeing Rosco, they chase after him to get the books. Rosco tells Flash to guard the books.
Bank of Hazzard
Handley gets annoyed with Boss’ antics and tells him to show the ledger already. Boss gets a call from Rosco and leaves to answer it, with Lulu stopping Handley from following. Rosco tells Boss that Bo and Luke are (ironically) chasing him to get the ledgers. Boss tells Rosco to go to the town incinerator, burn the secret book, and bring the official one to the bank. However, Rosco relays the news of the rebel flag sticker falling off and he’s unable to tell the two ledgers apart. Annoyed, Boss tells him that he’ll meet Rosco at the incinerator to read the ledgers. Bo and Luke hear the conversation, now worried about Boss and Rosco burning the evidence to prove Daisy’s innocence. Boss excuses himself to go meet Rosco, and Lulu leaves with him. Handley tries to stop them, but they still take off. Jesse and Daisy approach him and tell him that he must go with them if he wants to find out what is going on. Handley agrees and hops into the pickup with the two. As the three leave, they are spotted by Cletus, Clara, and Miz Tisdale, and three follow, with Miz Tisdale driving Cletus’ car, much to Cletus’ dismay.
Road
Rosco heads toward the Junkyard, where the town incinerator is located, with Bo and Luke following him. Boss falls in behind Bo and Luke in his car with Lulu and the temporary driver. Meanwhile, Jesse, Daisy, and Handley also head toward the Junkyard, with Clara, Miz Tisdale, and Cletus following them, and Miz Tisdale unnecessarily pulls off a two-wheeling stunt, which ends with her hat draping over her eyes, though Cletus immediately fixes it to prevent her from crashing. They catch up to Rosco’s group.
Junkyard
The junkyard’s front gate guard tries to stop them all from entering, but all five cars make it through, with Miz Tisdale breaking the fence, much to the guard’s dismay. Bo and Luke decide to cut off Rosco, going one way and being followed by Jesse, while all the others unknowingly go another way. The five cars then chaotically drive around each other in the junkyard, unaware of who’s going after who. Jesse hits a pile of tires, Rosco goes through a pile of boxes, Jesse gets back on the road, the General jumps over Rosco but goes through a stack of barrels, Rosco drives away and the boys follow, and Rosco hits a stack of cars and strips the front of his car which destroys the radiator and rips the front tires off, though he somehow found himself where he needed to go to: The town incinerator. Miz Tisdale hits a number of bags while trying to chase the General. After getting out, an impatient Rosco and a tired Flash try to figure out which book is which, unable to wait for Boss since the boys are nearby. Rosco ends up picking one at random by doing the “Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe” scenario and takes it to the incinerator. Bo and Luke arrive, but they come in too late just as Rosco tosses the ledger he picked in the fire, though they remember the other ledger and beat Rosco to it, hoping it’s the one that’ll clear Daisy. Boss and Lulu arrive to stop the boys, just as the latter duo go to check the other one. Jesse, Daisy, and Handley also arrive and check the book, with Cletus and the other deputies following suit. Boss yells at all law enforcers to arrest all the Dukes, but he’s surprised to see Handley arrive with Jesse and Daisy. Boss tells Handley about what he has to put up with in Hazzard County, but Handley just wants to see the ledger, which Bo and Luke provide to him.
Boss tells Handley about the ledger and the funds, the latter of which he claims were stolen by the Dukes. Jesse tries to rebuke the accusations from Boss, who mentions that “figures don’t lie”, but Bo and Luke confirm that the ledger they have is Boss’ secret ledger and Luke reads it out loud ($6,000 - Hogg Building Construction Company; $3,700 - Hogg Frozen Fritters Incorporated; $8,100 - Hogg International Shipping Incorporated), revealing Boss’ scam to everyone present, including Lulu, Clara, and Miz Tisdale, with Handley having a look with the boys. Boss is furious that Rosco burned the wrong one, with Rosco telling him that he couldn’t wait anymore and had to use the “Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe” scenario. Boss tires to claim it’s an old ledger, remarking “Right, Lulu?”, to which she disappointingly shouts “Wrong!” and grabs her cheapskate husband by the ear, before pulling him back to his car to take him back to town. The Dukes all hug in celebration, while Lulu had Boss replace the money.
Balladeer: And just then, after all these years, Lulu still don’t see Boss for what he is. Ain’t love wonderful? And so, to stay out of jail, Boss had to make up every penny of that missing money out of his own fat pocket. Even though the Dukes were all clear, Jesse was in worse trouble trying to escape from Miz Tisdale. Old Bo and Luke managed to get further involved in civic affairs on Sadie Hogg Day. And being true to his word, old Jesse had his work cut out for him. He took Miz Tisdale to the Hazzard Hoedown. And he don’t even know how to dance.

Bo and Luke drive into town to see Daisy and Jesse by Jesse’s pickup, Miz Tisdale hanging off his arm, much to Daisy’s enjoyment and Jesse’s partial discomfort. Bo and Luke get two women who were working with the garbage company, and the four leave in the General.
